For more than four decades, the Jackson Hospital Foundation has chan- neled support from residents, businesses and industries to fund expansion, im- provements, programs and scholarships at Jackson Hospital. These charitable funds directly benefit the River Region’s pa- tient population, as well as the staff and visitors of Jackson Hospital, by ensuring that the hospital is using the latest tech- nology, has the highest trained medical professionals and provides consistently comfortable facilities. COMMUNITY FOUNDATION best in care Big plans for the areas, McGough Oncology Center up- grades, health scholarships for high school seniors, and a $3 million renovation of the Family Birth Center. What’s to come Jackson Hospital will continue to grow in 2019 with the addition of another labor and delivery room, a hybrid operating room for our vascular surgeons and a new interventional radiology suite. This fall, Jackson Hospital will commemo- rate the 20th anniversary of open heart surgery with the addition of a four-bed post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) in our cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVICU) that will provide streamlined care for patients after open heart surgery. How to give The Jackson Hospital Foundation offers several ways to give. The Touchstone Society annual giving program offers several levels of membership and pro- vides the Foundation with ongoing sup- port each year. In addition to helping the hospital enhance services in many areas, donors receive special benefits through their participation. The Foundation also offers a corpo- rate partnership program that provides benefits to businesses in the community, while simultaneously assisting with medical and technological advancements within the hospital. This program offers five levels of participation and includes visibility or involvement at the Founda- tion’s special events. 14 Jackson Hospital CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS! The W.D. Smith Nursing Scholarship was established by the Jackson Hospital Foundation from contributions made to honor Dr. W.D. Smith. Dr. Smith, a longtime physician Johnathon Neely, scholarship recipient Erica Brooks, scholarship recipient at Jackson Hospital, serves on the Advisory Board for the Foundation and has a love for rewarding hard work and dedication in future nurses. This scholarship is for full-time or part-time Jackson Hospital employees who have a desire to become a registered nurse (RN) and need financial support while in school. Johnathon Neely graduated from Troy University Nursing School and now works as a full-time RN here at Jackson Hospital. Erica Brooks, a Montgomery native, graduates from Troy University Nursing School in December 2020 and has worked in the Jackson Hospital critical care unit since 2017.
