jackson.org 11 RHEUMATOLOGY Jumping Rope 15-25 minutes, 3-5 times per week Running/Jogging/Walking 20-30 minutes, 2-3 times per week (running/jogging) 30 minutes, 5 times per week (walking) Swimming 10-30 minutes, 2-5 times per week Add 5 minutes to your swim time each week Stationary Bike/Elliptical 30-45 minutes, 3 times per week Exercise is extremely important for those suffering from osteo- arthritis. Obesity is commonly associated with an increased risk of all types of arthritis, so it is vital to stay active using aerobic exercises. Remember to always talk to your healthcare provider before starting a new fitness routine. Start with just a few minutes a day and build your endurance by trying these exercises: walking, biking, swim- ming, yoga and water aerobics.
