Swinging Fore Healthcare is a
tournament like no other—with vendors
on nearly every hole providing fun and
entertainment along the course.
For nearly a decade, the Jackson Hospital Foundation
has hosted Swinging Fore Healthcare, an annual golf
tournament that is one of the best in the River Region.
This year’s tournament—the seventh—was no different.
With a record number of vendors and players, as
well as the addition of a morning tennis tournament,
the event raised more than $114,000, which will benefit
cardiovascular services at the hospital, specifically a
new cath lab, cardiovascular intensive care waiting
room and hospital beds.
“This tournament is something we look forward to
and plan all year,” says Patrick Wood, development
director for the Foundation. “We are always over-
whelmed by the support of the community and local
businesses to make sure this event is a success, year
after year.”
The comfortably warm morning began with break-
fast from Chick-Fil-A, and all golfers received gift bags
sponsored by Walgreens and a black golf polo shirt
thanks to Iberia Bank. At noon, lunch was served by
Wynlakes Country Club, special host to the tournament
every year. A late afternoon barbecue by the present-
ing sponsor, Jackson Imaging Center, was enjoyed
after a long day on the course.
Haynes Ambulance kept golfers hydrated through-
out the event, and vendors were set up at each hole,
providing entertainment, giveaways, and specialty
beverages and snacks.
The not-for-profit Foundation has targeted several
areas for expansion based on a growing demand for
patient services. Tax-deductible gifts target specific
centers of excellence.
