Our wonderful team of Jackson Hospital volun- teers saw nearly 100 participants and even helped save the life of a patient who needed cardiac bypass surgery. The patient had a family history of heart disease but no acute symptoms. Thank you to our experienced team who were able to catch this problem and save our patient’s life! GREAT STRIDES WALK FOR CYSTIC FIBROSIS MS WALK COMMUNITY SPIRIT Jackson Hospital Sports Medicine recently hosted the annual high school sports physicals at Garrett Coliseum. Athletic screenings for high school athletes are required by the athletic association in order to participate in sports for the upcoming school year. This year, we served 925 students from 22 different schools! In ad- dition to the dozens of Jackson Hospital employees who volunteered, we also received additional help from interns at the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine, nursing students from Fortis College, athletic trainers from Rehab Associates and students from the Impact School who plan on pursuing a career in medicine.
