6 Jackson Hospital Jackson Hospital is now home to the EnSite Preci- sion Mapping System.™We were among the first sites in the United States to use this technology. The EnSite Precision cardiac mapping system is used in HEART CARE Next-generation cardiac mapping is here ablation procedures to treat patients with abnormal heart rhythms (cardiac arrhythmias). It’s designed to provide auto- mation, flexibility and accuracy in the mapping process. When physicians use cath- eter ablation to treat cardiac arrhythmias, several long, flex- ible tubes with wires, called catheters, are inserted into the heart. Diagnostic catheters record and “map” electrical in- formation from the heart, and the cardiac mapping system provides highly detailed ana- tomical models and maps to enable the diagnosis of a wide range of arrhythmias, guide therapy and expand procedural options. “The great thing about the new cardiac mapping system at Jackson Hospital is that patients no longer have to drive to Birmingham or farther to find the latest and greatest technology,” said Tamjeed Arshad, MD, cardiac electrophysiologist at Jackson Hospital and Clinic. A distinctive feature of EnSite Precision is its intel- ligent automation tools, which enable faster and more ac- curate high-density maps. This allows Dr. Arshad and his team to tailor treatment for a variety of complex cases. The ability to rapidly create high-resolution models speeds up mapping time and minimizes fluoro- scopic radiation exposure for both patients and clinicians. Advanced care GETTING TO KNOW DR. ARSHAD Tamjeed Arshad, MD, is board certified in cardiovascular dis- ease, clinical cardiac electro- physiology and internal medicine. He received his medical degree from Rawalpindi Medical College. Dr. Arshad completed his internal medicine residency at Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center, New York, and his fellowship at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center of Boston and Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He specializes in electrophysiology and sees patients at The Jackson Clinic. As part of Jackson Hospital, The Jackson Clinic is the River Region’s largest and most comprehensive primary and specialty care physician group.
