ONE YEAR AGO LARRY BUSBY HAD TOTAL HIP REPLACE-MENT, AND JUST A FEW MONTHS LATER HE WAS BACK TO CALLING SOFTBALL GAMES AND REGULAR VISITS TO THE Y.
“I’ve been calling ballgames for 38 years,” he said. “I love it, and I did not want to give it up.”
In June 2010, Steven A. Barrington, MD, of Alabama Orthopaedic Specialists, performed the surgery at Jackson Hospital Orthopedic & Joint Center. And today, Busby feels like a new man.
“Physical therapy is a must, and it helped me tremendously,” he said. “I was doing a therapy program before the surgery, but continuing the program got me up and moving just a short time afterwards.”
With rehabilitation and being in great physical health overall, Busby doesn’t feel anything but positive ef-fects from the surgery. He is able to move and bend with agility, which helps him be as effcient as possible when umpiring games.
