A LEGACY OF LEADERSHIP
Donald M. Ball, the second administrator and CEO of Jackson Hospital, passed away
December 15, 2016. Mr. Ball was named CEO after Douglas Goode retired in 1982. During his
long tenure at Jackson, he oversaw many substantial changes to the hospital’s medical staff,
facilities and services. A few highlights of his career:
• Construction of the hospital’s north wing
• Development of the neuroscience, orthopedic and pain management programs
• Oversight of an $80 million construction project, including the current patient towers
• Leadership over a $3 million capital campaign for the Jackson Hospital Foundation
• Creation of the Jackson Primary Care physician group
• Facilitation of a planned $18 million clinical information system upgrade
Memorials in Mr. Ball’s honor can be made to the Jackson Hospital Foundation.
